We offer guests the chance to fish for wild Carp and catfish in an unspoilt environment.
What we don't offer is named fish from stocked ponds, the fish we catch are truly wild!
We offer a full fishing holiday designed around our guests.
We advise on the best areas to fish and the best tactics for catching either carp or catfish.
A trip to fish wild areas of France can seem very daunting at first, but with our help you will find that it is more of a pleasure than anything else. The areas we fish see little angling pressure and because of this the fishing can be superb.
The carp fishing from March until June and then September until November on the river is the most productive as the fish can be caught during the day. During the hottest months most of the fish are caught early mornings, evenings and through the night. We find that during July and August most of our guests utilise the hottest parts of the day for relaxing with a cold beer or a glass of wine and socialising.
Carp fishing on the lakes we fish can be productive throughout the year from March until November.
The areas we fish are mostly accessible by car and are not hard fishing, by this I mean you don't need to be able to cast 150+ metres or boat baits out 400 metres. You will however need to beef up your mainline and end gear. I normally fish with 20-25lb mono and use a good strong hook link as well as bigger stronger hooks from number 6 - 2. What you need to remember when fishing the river is that the carp fight very hard when hooked and you need strong gear to get them in the net.
Catfishing starts on the 1st of May and runs until late october when the fish start to become less active as the water temperature gets colder.
Fishing for the cats in the river can be a real eye opener to anglers that have never fished for them in anything other than a lake. The fish are massively powerful and take full advantage of this. The record Cat caught from the river is 220lb so be warned, they take some stopping when they hit the bait.
We mainly fish for cats in the river with live or dead bait either on the bottom or tied to the far bank or buoy.
Catfishing in the lakes is also very good and either the above methods can be used or you can fish for them with pellets.
Putting the fishing aside for a moment, lets talk about what's on offer if you fancy taking time out from your fishing.
The local area is very rural so you won't be bothered by traffic and noise. There is no hustle and bustle here and the pace of life is very relaxed.
We have plenty to see and do whilst you are here and there are many family attractions within driving distance, like Valley of the Monkeys and Futuroscope, along with local bars, restaurants and markets.
There are plenty of walks and cycle tracks for the more energetic as well as kayaking and water skiing classes.
Now that I have spoken about all the above I can tell you about the accommodation we offer.
Firstly we can have a tent, with bedding, cooking facilities, tables and chairs etc ready for you when you arrive on the local campsite. The campsite sits right on the banks of the river and is peaceful and relaxing. It benefits from free wifi and a fridge freezer as well as having plenty of hot water in the shower/toilet blocks.
It really is a lovely place to stay and the tent sleeps either two adults in seperate bedroom compartments or mum and dad in one side and two children in the other.
Secondly we have a lovely cottage in the local village that can sleep a maximum of six.
The cottage has everything you would require and is within walking distance, as is the campsite, to a newly opened bar/restaurant.
The cottage is 5 minutes from the river.
Both the campsite and the cottage can be seen by opening the tabs at the top of the page.
So as you can see, we can cater for most guests, whether it be just anglers wanting to fish or guys coming out with their wives and even their children.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact us or why not click the facebook logo at the top of the page and have a look at what we have been catching.
A little piece on who I am
I am the Great Grandson of Albert Buckley, for those that don’t know who Albert is, he was a great all-round angler, that in 1930 caught the UK record Carp and held the record until Dick Walker took it from him. Both my Grandad and Dad were anglers, so it’s in my genes. I started fishing at the age of 4 when my dad made me a fishing rod from a garden cane. I spent many happy hours as a child down the cut (canal) with my bean stick rod and wooden centre-pin reel.
Since those early years I have progressed somewhat and have now fished a lot of countries throughout Europe and also in Australia.
I moved to France in 2009 and started ‘living the dream’ with my partner Julie and two dogs, Meg and Luna. I live a 5 minute drive from the beautiful Vienne River and many lakes where, over several years, I have built up my knowledge on how to fish these waters and the areas which hold fish. As many anglers know, France is a wonderful country for fishing. I chose the Vienne region of France to live as I had visited the area many times previously and had made friends here.
I know a lot of anglers that just want to fish commercial fisheries and I myself have spent many hours on these sorts of waters, but my heart has always been with wild fish from public rivers and lakes. I feel the rewards of catching a fish from these types of waters greatly outweighs those from stocked ponds.
So, to sum me up, I am a 48 year old guy that has been fishing for the last 44 years, who is now offering you a chance to fish ‘the dream’ here in France.
Oh yes for those that think size matters.. my pb carp are…. Mirror 64lb and Common 51lb I have also had Grass Carp to close to 40lb and cats to well over a 100lb.
